St. Angela Merici Academy

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF ST. ANGELA ACADEMY-WEBUYE

St. Angela academy is situated in Bungoma County, Western part of Kenya. It is a non-profit making institution managed by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anne and accommodates a number of vulnerable children from the community and beyond.  St. Angela academy was taken over by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anna in January 2013 from a private investor. The school by then had an enrollment of 11 pupils and one teacher.  Under the new management of the sisters, the school begun to flourish in academics, character formation of the learners and co-curricular activities. This has attracted many parents to admit their children at St. Angela academy resulting in a rapid population growth of the school. Currently the enrollment is 450 pupils, 21 teachers and 13 auxiliary staff.

The school has partaken in KCPE for three consecutive years with a positive deviation of over 20 marks each year since 2016. In 2016 the school registered a mean score of 351 marks, in 2017 the 372 marks and in 2018 it registered a means of 395 all out of the possible 500 marks. With such remarkable performance there has been steady growth of population.
